In this example, we will map a SharePoint library to Windows Explorer to be able to access SharePoint files directly in Windows.

Step 1 - Open up a web browser of your choice. We are using Mozilla Firefox. Navigate to your companies SharePoint site and log in, then click on any library that you want synced with Windows.

Step 2 - Once you've got a library open, look for the "Sync" button and click it

Step 3 - It will present you a message that your folder is syncing and, depending on your browser, it will ask to open OneDrive, which you can allow and open.

Step 4 - Now, open File Explorer in Windows and your library will be in a section on the left. This allows you to copy/paste, drag & drop, and work with the library directly.

Optional - If you right click any OneDrive or SharePoint file on your PC, there are options that give you some tools.

Share - Generates a link and allows you to share this file to another employee or external email address

View Online - This opens a web browser directly to the SharePoint Online folder that the file lives in such as in Step 1.

Always Keep on this Device - Not all files in OneDrive and SharePoint are immediately downloaded to your PC. This is good in that it saves space, but bad in that it takes a second to open a file not already on your PC. This option tells OneDrive to download that file or folder directly to your PC.

Free up space - This removes the file/folder from your PC but does not remove it from OneDrive/SharePoint.
